Early Learning - Land as our Teacher

Jackie Carson is a proud citizen of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government, with roots connecting her to the historical Lac Ste Anne and St. Albert Métis communities. Along with her husband and three active teenage children, she resides in Spruce Grove, Alberta. Jackie graduated from the University of Alberta, specializing in Elementary Education with a focus on Native Studies. She has taught a wide range of ages and subjects in the K-12 system and has extended her experience by serving a term as an Elected School Trustee. Jackie is committed to infusing Métis- specific knowledge and ways of being into all learning spaces and continues to expand her understanding and expertise as the Program Coordinator for the Early Learning Education and Childcare Training (ELECT) program with Rupertsland Center for Teaching and Learning.

Angel Tuttle is a Métis woman with historical roots from the Lac Ste Anne community. She currently resides in Stony Plain, Alberta and is a proud mother and Educator. She graduated from the University of Alberta and has been a certified teacher for 30 years. Angel has taught many different levels of students, ranging from preschool to adults. She has a comprehensive background in early learning, special education and was an Indigenous Lead Teacher with her former school district. She aspires to be a lifelong learner. Angel has taken numerous courses and has obtained diverse certifications throughout her career. She started with Rupertsland Institute by sitting on an expert focus group for early learning education and childcare training (ELECT). Angel has also been the lead professional with the ELECT Pilot group. She has a great interest in reclaiming her culture and sharing her journey with others. Angel now passionately enjoys working for Rupertsland Institute as a Métis Education Consultant.
