About this Learning Opportunity
The numeracy bead string is an incredibly useful tool to support numeracy development. This session
will explore how to use them in your classroom from preschool to grade 6. First you will make your own
bead string, and then try out activities in groups that will cover counting forwards and backwards, part-
part whole relationship, place value, grouping, basic facts, fractions and more!
*If you have a bead string, please feel free to bring it to this session. If you do not have one a virtual
option will be provided.

Angela Hanson is an elementary school educator who believes that learning math concepts should be active and fun. She structures math classes that encourage students to move and engage in group activities. Her students are excited to discover new math strategies using manipulatives and games.
