About this Learning Opportunity
This is the second session in a series to support Elementary Physical Education and Wellness teachers (specialists and generalists) in building confidence to delivering the new curriculum. This session will cover:
? Quick overview of Curriculum Summary tool and curriculum structure from first
session
? Focus on planning for Physical Education KUSPs (active living, movement skills,
character development, safety, healthy relationships) for learning cycle creation
? Comparison between traditional unit based planning vs. Teaching Games for
Understanding (TGFU) model so you are informed about instructional focus
? Examples of Year Plans
? Strategies for integrating KUSPs into a thematic approach (Safety, Healthy
Relationships, Character Development)
? Introduction of a few tracking tools and strategies (and class discussions) in
Physical Education so you are efficient and thorough in your assessment
? Introduction to the Effective Pedagogy Series to build capacity to foster physical
skills in students
? Time to discuss and clarify participant questions
