About this Learning Opportunity

  1.  A handout will be emailed to you prior to the session
  2.  In order to receive a certificate, you must attend all 3 days of training
  3. Upon successful completion of this course, employers (school divisions etc.) accept the Certificate of Completion and permit the holder to administer, score and interpret Level B assessments. Acceptance of this or any such proof of training always remains with the employer, but acceptance has been virtually unanimous.
  4.  There will be a 45 minute lunch break each day, with breaks throughout each day at the discrection of the presenter

Participants will:
-  Understand the 3 levels of testing and how they differ and the role of each level in assessment
-  Key Principles of testing including:

  •   Provincial, national and international standards
  •   Ethical test selection and use
  •   Understanding measurement statistics
  •   Understanding standard Scores, T scores, Z scores, percentiles ranks, grade and age equivalent
  •   How to interpret standard scores
  •   Interpreting test results to parents, children and teachers
  •   Choosing tests with precision
  •   Understanding measurement error, confidence intervals

Dr. Dave Carter

Dr. Dave Carter has been an educator for more than 40 years, having worked as a grade 6 and 7 teacher, Learning Assistance Teacher (K-7), a school psychologist for grades K – 12, and a Director of Instruction for Student Services in both the Central Okanagan and Surrey, B.
