Support for Administrators of French Immersion Programs

Under a grant provided by Alberta Education to the Alberta Regional Professional Development Consortia (ARPDC) and under the leadership of Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium (ERLC) in partnership with the Alberta Teachers Association and le Conseil français, a series of workshops has been developed to support administrators of French Immersion programs.

Ongoing dialogue and review was provided by Alberta Education, the Alberta Teachers Association, le Conseil Français, and the ARPDC.

The goals of the workshop are:

1. To help administrators understand the workings of FRIM programs.
2. To help administrators create immersion environments in their schools.
3. To help administrators support teachers and parents.
4. To provide links to resources: print, virtual, human, and community connections.

There will be additional sessions developed that focus on creating an immersion culture, strategies to support teacher capacity and resources available.
