Lessons Learned
“So What?” “What’s
next?”
- Flexibility is key -- Different Levels: Continue to support teachers who have
- Regional team – great service already done significant implementation work AND those who
- Management by ERLC v. positive are just starting/new to the province, etc.
- PD Leadership Capacity dollars -- Assessment: continue to support learning about assessment
- Big names (at start) for learning in social studies
-- Going deeper as we go along.
-- Work with administrators.
What’s Significant?
“Liked” :)
“Did not like” :(
:)
- social studies regional team (ECS, EPS, SAP)
- access to expertise
- PD resources
- Flexibility to meet district needs
- District-specific (e.g. cohort community)
- “initiate project” plan
- Collaboration/partnership
- Responding to teacher needs -- Plan indicates ERLC doesn’t stop and always look forward.
:(
- Difficult to take advantage of regional team (e.g. district calendar, subs, distance issues)
- tracking data (especially impact)
- need more dollars to do district coaching/mentoring
*The ERLC Social Studies Advisory Committee Summary Reflections & Historical
Scan shown above represents a very brief history of the
entire social studies project. It was used as a process during
selected advisory committee meetings to facilitate discussions
around what was working well and what lessons had been learned
during the implementation of the social studies curriculum.
