About this learning opportunity
This half-day session will provide you with information about the purpose of the Mathematics 3 Provincial Achievement Test and its connection to the intent and the outcomes in the 2007 Mathematics Program of Study.
The design of the PAT as well as samples of questions that will be used to assess students' learning will be shared. Highlights of the results and emerging trends from the 2011 Mathematics PAT will also be discussed. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and to clarify your understanding of provincial assessments in mathematics in order to enhance your classroom assessment practices.
Please bring your individual Mathematics School Reports to the session. Helpful information about these reports and how you can analyze them will be shared.
This session will be repeated in the afternoon via videoconference and will be repeated on April 16, 2012. It is also being offered via webinar on March 21, 2012.

About the facilitator(s)
Deanna Wiens is currently the Assessment Standards Team Leader for Grade 3 Mathematics and English Language Arts. She has been with Alberta Education since 2006. Previously, she was employed for 18 years by Edmonton Public Schools. She has taught students from Kindergarten to Grade Six but she has spent the majority of her career working with students in Division One.
