About this learning opportunity

This session is ideal for all teachers but particularly applicable to secondary English Language Arts and Social Studies teachers for assisting students with developing visual literacy comprehension skills and interpreting and creating visual responses. In this session, Trevor Bryan will share his approach for exploring visual texts which will make it easier for students to enter, think about and discuss various kinds of images. His approach utilizes three simple tools, that act as scaffolds to help students to move from concrete thinking based on the observable textual evidence to more abstract, higher order thinking based on their experiences and background knowledge. The approach, known as The Art of Comprehension, is simple and effective and offers pathways for all of your students to share their voices and become active members of a thinking classroom.

Susan Woo will be facilitating this pre-recorded webinar with attending participants with learning activities co-created with Trevor Bryan.

Copies of Trevor's book The Art of Comprehension will be available for purchase at the additional cost of $40.00. Only cash payment will be accepted.
