About this learning opportunity

Schematic Play can be observed at all times within an early childhood classroom.  Children use patterns of repeated behaviour to explore new ideas and express their thoughts.  Schematic Play is an essential building block for children’s development and their ability to construct meaning about the world around them.

In this session we will explore common schemas, identify schematic play in action and develop activities to support children’s learning and development based on common schemas.

This session addresses the TQS competencies

  • #2: Engaging in Career-Long Learning
  • #3: Demonstrating a Professional Body of Knowledge

This learning opportunity is being subsidized through funding from Alberta Education.
