About this learning opportunity

What are the big ideas from the Julie Stern books and website?  This pd-on-demand session has been developed for our working professional leaders who wish to reach a deep understanding about the underpinnings of the Julie Stern book - Tools for Teaching Conceptual Understanding (Elementary and/or Secondary)  

The learning experience will include:

  1. One initial face to face meeting with the option to join via Zoom
  2. Two online meetings via Zoom
  3. A google classroom for online discussions and reflections

How is this session pd-on-demand?  The online meetings will be available to watch and respond to anytime via the Google Classroom.

They will focus on:

  1. discussions brought forward by participants and
  2. provocations for participants to work through to supplement the learning experience

About the facilitator(s)

Michele Jones is the lead curriculum education consultant for the Edmonton consortium, supporting districts and schools in transforming teaching and learning around the province. She completed her Masters in Educational Leadership in 2014. She has over 20 years of experience teaching and learning in the field of education.  Her depth and breadth of knowledge combined with her work in multiple contexts and her contagious energy make her a great choice for leading professional learning opportunities. Christine Quong is on secondment as an Educational Technology Consultant to the Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium.  Prior to this, she served as a Collaborative Lead Teacher for Pembina Hills Public Schools where she facilitated and led the professional collaborations among teachers and supported their application of universal design for learning and differentiated instruction. Her 14 years of experience as an educator has been teaching primarily K-6. She completed her Master’s of Education in Educational Technology at the University of Alberta and is a Google for Education Certified Trainer.
