About this learning opportunity

The Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium (ERLC) is proud to once again facilitate an exciting and engaging Community of Practice (CoP) for educators who wish to deepen their understanding of an inquiry/project-based approach to teaching and learning.  If you wish to see inquiry in action and talk to teachers who have mastered this approach - this series is for you! You will have the opportunity to observe a range of exemplary teachers and their students actively engaged in inquiry, as well as engage in small group, practical and meaningful dialogue with CoP members. This is a learning series that you can not miss!

The series will begin with a half day orientation session on October 30, 2018, followed up with four half-day visits to Edmonton area schools (a combination of elementary and junior high schools). At each school, you will engage in a variety of processes and activities, such as: hear a short presentation from the leader(s) of the school; focused visits to 3 – 4 classrooms in the school to view inquiry in action; dialogue/Q&A with the teachers of the classrooms visited; connections to current literature and research on inquiry/PBL; connections to the new draft concept based curriculum, opportunities to share artifacts, discuss/reflect on your implementation of the ideas shared. As part of this series, you will be asked to ‘try’ at least one idea or strategy at your own school and share your experience at a celebration of learning on our final day together. Note: Our final day will begin at 9:00 a.m. to provide time for celebration, sharing and learning from each other.

This session is being offered on a cost recovery basis.
