About this learning opportunity

The Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium (ERLC) is hosting a Community of Practice for beginning or veteran teachers who are interested in deepening their understanding of foundational literacy practices.

 Key topics of learning include: 

  • What does 100 minutes of daily literacy programming look like? 
  • How to integrate all components of a comprehensive literacy program in your daily/weekly plans including reading, writing, phonemic awareness, word work and oral language
  • Classroom design - making the most of your space
  • Tips for classroom management, supporting diverse learners and communicating with parents 
  • Guiding principles for whole group, small group and one-on-one instruction 
  • Diagnostic Literacy Assessments

About the facilitator(s)

Paddy Zadunayski’s classroom experience spans from grades one to nine and she has served as a school-based administrator. She holds a B.Ed and an M.Ed in Elementary Education. Her masters’ studies focused on Early Literacy Development, with a specialization in reading assessment and support. 

Paddy was previously the Coordinator of Literacy for Pembina Hills Public Schools. In this role, her responsibilities included planning professional development opportunities and providing instructional coaching.
