About this learning opportunity
This session is designed to help teachers who are new or returning to Grades 4-6 FSL and could use help navigating this program.
This crash course will provide a brief overview of key factors to know when teaching French as a Language in Alberta:
- how to plan lessons,
- where to put the emphasis and
- how to build a solid program regardless of your level of French proficiency.
Proposed unit and year plans based on the Alberta FSL Programs of Study will be shared. We will highlight sample projects and assessment tools developed by local teachers and share a wealth of free teaching tools, games and favourite go-to sites. You will engage in a number of fun learning activities first-hand and will leave feeling prepared to engage in a rich year of learning with their students. Allons-y!

About the facilitator(s)
Michelle De Abreu is a highly experienced educator who recently retired as a second language consultant with Edmonton Public Schools where she provided FSL support at the elementary, junior high and senior high levels.
