About this learning opportunity

Come spend the day speaking entirely in French! This French Language Boot Camp is designed to give French teachers a chance to practice language skills in a safe, supported environment while learning first hand about fun learning tasks that get students talking and thinking in French. A diverse range of learning tasks have been selected that align to the Alberta Education FSL Programs of Study. Most importantly, these simple activities can be used the next day with students!

All the needed materials to replicate these learning tasks will be provided on an online resource page. You are welcome to bring your own devices, but will spend most of the day playing games and talking with colleagues. Wear comfortable clothes and be prepared to be up and moving.

While the day is designed to be supportive for teachers of all proficiency levels (word lists and needed expressions will be provided), you should come with a basic level of conversational French. Those with minimal French will find it challenging to comfortably participate in conversations.

This session addresses the TQS competencies

  • #2: Engaging in Career-Long Learning
  • #3: Demonstrating a Professional Body of Knowledge

This learning opportunity is being provided through funding from Alberta Education.
