About this learning opportunity

This session focuses on:

TPACK (Technology, Pedagogy and Content Knowledge) - Knowledge for effective technology integration that considers technology, pedagogy and curriculum in multiple contexts.

The iPad is one of the most popular new digital 21st Century devices which is a powerful educational tool, bringing learning to life; especially in the hands of our young learners. With its touch pad screen, children become actively engaged in "real-world" hands on activities, made possible by the wide variety of purposeful, outcome based applications (apps).  These iPads are infused into our Reggio Inspired teaching philosophy placing our children first in a 21st Century learning environment.

This session will be led by Monsignor Fee Otterson teachers and their administrative team. The morning focus will be on classroom observations, where you will see early learning students working in a collaborative setting to develop digital literacy skills, engage in language expansion/extension, practice peer modeling for social communication and more. In the afternoon, you will be involved in a practitioner to practitioner learning model which will provide the opportunity to engage in professional dialogue and use the iPads themselves.

You will:

  • learn about a variety of successful iPad apps that reach curricular outcomes and foster learner engagement.
  • explore ideas, strategies and apps presented and applied in the classroom.
  • take away a variety of successful 21st Century applications made possible through the use of the iPad, to engage the curious minds of your students.

It's inclusion at its best!

Every Child, Every Day, No Exceptions!

This learning opportunity is subsidized as a result of a grant from Alberta Education to support implementation and will model technology integration in the core subject areas.
