The teachers at St. Benedict’s School in STAR Catholic School Division examined the Programs of Study as a tool to analyze the developmental progression from beginning to more advanced writing.

Developing writers make qualitative changes as they progress from Kindergarten to Grade 6. As part of a comprehensive understanding of the nature of writing, and how to capture a change in writing growth over time, the teachers at St. Benedict’s School in STAR Catholic School Division examined the Program of Studies as a tool to analyze the developmental progression from beginning to more advanced writing. Next steps involve a school wide common writing task and collaborative marking to determine student progress and subsequent programming.
