Distributing Professional Learning - ways to access learning from any place, any time and at your own pace

ERLC and the Alberta Regional Professional Development Consortia have been exploring different approaches to "distributing" learning opportunities. We have learned with you when learning content may be distributed in various ways - such as video conferencing, webcasting, webinars and now podcasts. We have now begun to explore how video can support job embedded learning and opportunities to learn "just in time".

Last year ERLC district contacts requested that we "connect the dots" amongst various initiatives that support building an inclusive environment. As a result of various grants to support implementation from Alberta Education and a requirement to explore ways to distribute learning the Inclusive Education - Support for Implementation website was developed. The intent of this website is to provide you with a variety of accessible learning opportunities to support implementation of an inclusive learning environment.

New video materials are available in two sections:

Collaborating with Parents provides support for teachers with communication and collaboration strategies in working with parents to support student learning.

School Leadership and Inclusion provides support for administrators and school leaders with creating inclusive environments.

Both sections include videos, tip sheets and learning guides designed for use by Professional Learning Communities, instructional/learning coaches, teacher-leaders or as a self-paced study to enhance and support instruction, conversation and critical reflection about creating inclusive learning environments. The tip sheets include an overview of key concepts. The learning guide is intended to "continue the conversation" after viewing the video.

Materials will continually be added to the website this fall - please let us know how you may be using the site and how we can continue to adapt to meet your needs.
